FEATURE · AUDIO CALIBRATION · F8

Auditory BLS, tuned to the client.

Auditory BLS is not one-size-fits-all. BilateralSync exposes the variables that let the therapist tune the sound to each client.

DEFINITION

Audio calibration is the set of controls that let the therapist tune auditory bilateral stimulation to the client — tone frequency, volume and pan depth, adjustable in real time.

What it is

A small panel that exposes tone frequency, master volume, and left-right pan depth on the therapist side. Every control updates on the client's audio output as it is moved.

Why it matters clinically

Client comfort and audibility drive whether auditory BLS lands as intended. A tone that is too high, too loud or too narrowly panned interferes rather than supports processing.

How BilateralSync implements it

Audio is generated client-side through the Web Audio API. Therapist adjustments are applied via the sync channel with sub-100 ms latency.

Frequently asked questions

What can I calibrate?

Tone frequency, volume and pan depth, all in real time. The therapist can also mute audio for a set without losing the visual target.

Why does pan depth matter?

Some clients prefer subtle panning; others want fully alternating stereo. Adjustable pan depth lets the therapist match the client's auditory tolerance.

Does the therapist hear the audio the client hears?

The therapist has an optional monitor on their side so they can verify the sound the client is receiving before starting a set.
